C’mon join the joyride/ Be a joyrider

June 11, 2010

I thought I’d share a few of my favourite pictures from my trusty old red phone. All of them conjure up happy memories past. Let me take you on a little joyride.

The phone makes a guest appearance! This was while filming 2 years ago. It was raining heavily and since it was an outdoor shoot, we had to wait it out. The lot of us traipsed over to nearby PS Cafe in search of cake and a hot drink (it was freezing!). I went staright to the ladies first, and there to greet me was this lovely bunch of blooms, in all shades of pink. So pretty! It brightened up my morning.

This was taken while on a double-deck bus. (I love riding double-deck buses!) The bus was just turning onto Orchard Road. The stretch had just been all prettied up for the holidays, and it was my first time seeing the light-up that year. There’s something about Christmas lights that makes me feel all childlike and excited inside.

I remember I was off, it was a weekday, it was cold and rainy out (I don’t even like rain! But it seems to figure in a lot of my happy memories, for some reason) but I was warm and content, enjoying one of life’s simple pleasures at the local kopitiam while watching life go by (or people rushing off to work!). Scrambled eggs, sausages and kaya butter toast with a hot cup of Milo, and a great feeling in my heart knowing I didn’t have to work that day. Ahhh.

Mahjong with the girls. I hardly play, and I play terribly, and terribly slowly. For this reason, I only play with this particular bunch as some of them take even longer than me! Seriously though, our sessions are more an excuse for us to get together to pig out, drink and talk nonsense. On the rare occasion where we do manage to get together for a round (that can last 3-4hours, for a single round!), it’s usually when four of us find a common weekday afternoon off, so it’s lovely and chill, and very enjoyable. Victory still tastes sweet though, and here’s a shot of my limit game. Woo hoo!

This was taken after a long day at work. My friends had come to pick me up (bless!), and we had fun  riding the kiddie rides. It’s been years since I last rode one (and since I last was a kid!), and they now cost $1 instead of the $0.20 of my childhood! What a great way to unwind, and what a great end to the day.

Good drinks, great company. Happy times. =)

She has a train going downtown,
She’s got a club on the moon
And she’s telling all her secrets
In a wonderful balloon.
